Voice Software Company HeyAnita Closes Round of Funding

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 2001-- HeyAnita Inc., a leading voice software company, closed its third round of funding today.

HeyAnita received funding from China Development Industrial Bank Inc., Intel Capital and SBVC. Financial details were not disclosed.

Currently working with Fortune 500 companies worldwide, HeyAnita provides enabling technology that allows end users to access, navigate and manage information and business data from any device simply by using their voice. HeyAnita is currently providing the software, content and services to Sprint PCS for its nationwide voice portal service.

"This round will help ensure that we have the resources to deliver on our domestic and international objectives and continuing on the same steady path that brought us great customers such as Sprint PCS, Net2Phone, Korean Telecom and Korean Airlines," said Sanjeev Kuwadekar, CEO of HeyAnita. "Our focus is on developing innovative voice software that helps enable companies to improve efficiencies throughout the organization and provide a high quality user experience."

"Since day one, I have been 100 percent committed to HeyAnita and its focus on delivering carrier grade software for the voice recognition market," said Gary Rieschel, executive managing director of SBVC and HeyAnita's chairman. "I am impressed with its entire team. They have delivered on every one of their technology objectives and have secured contracts with major service providers such as Sprint. I think the voice technology space is on track to realize enormous growth over the coming years and HeyAnita is positioned as a global leader who will continue to provide the best software in this sector."

"We have a strong commitment to HeyAnita. We first invested in HeyAnita Korea in November 2000 and we are now committed to HeyAnita USA. We are pleased to witness the outstanding business growth in their Korea operation and I think they are on route to a very promising voice service market," said CM Lu, First Vice President and General Manager Overseas Business Department, China Development Industrial Bank Inc. "For HeyAnita USA, I am particularly pleased with their service launch with Sprint PCS in May this year, which is the first commercial launch among various competitors in the US. With this head start, I have full confidence that HeyAnita will be successful in the voice service market."

"Continued investment in application speech technology is strategically important for the communications industry, and is one of the key reasons underlying this investment," said Rob Gowans, Intel Corporation's director of service provider systems for the Telecommunications and Embedded Group. "We are encouraged by the growing momentum for standards-based voice technology, like HeyAnita's. Speech is one of the key technologies for driving next generation network services and deployments."
