Financial Engines provides online investment advice for individual investors and FORTUNE 500(*) companies. Financial Engines combines financial forecasting technology with the power of the Internet to deliver unbiased, personalized advice. Founded by Economics Nobel Laureate William F. Sharpe, Financial Engines is dedicated to helping individuals make better investment decisions to meet the financial needs of their families.
Financial Engines Investment Advisor(*) service forecasts how much an individual's total portfolio of specific mutual funds and stocks might be worth in the future and it offers personalized recommendations on how much to invest in each of the mutual fund options in an individual's 401(k) account.
The Advisor service is available through 401(k)-plan providers, plan sponsors, and directly to consumers through www.financialengines.com . The Advisor service analyzes and tracks more than 10,000 mutual funds and 6,000 stocks. The forecasting portion of the service is available at no charge and the investment advisory service is $14.95 per quarter (directly to individuals).
In addition to the direct offering, Financial Engines has launched a new portfolio forecasting service. This service allows an investor who tracks his or her portfolio online to receive a forecast of what those actual investments might be worth in the future, with the click of a single button. Time Warner was the first partnership announced in this category and America Online (AOL) will be offering the Forecaster to 18.7 million subscribers on Netscape Netcenter and 20 million registered users on AOL's Personal Finance Channel.
