Group Sense PDA Holdings Limited was established in the year 2000 as a subsidiary of the Hong Kong-listed Group Sense (International) Limited (HK: 601), focusing on PDA products with or without communication capabilities. Other investors include Intel Capital, Softbank China, Softbank Asian Infrastructure Fund and UTStarcom. The Company is currently one of the major PDA players in the Greater China and Southeast Asian markets.
The Company is engaged in design, manufacture and sale of PDA products in the worldwide market, with a particular focus in Greater China. Its "Xplore OS" is the only true open operating system that is designed for bilingual users of English and Chinese. The Company is also offering a wide range of wireless PDA using technologies like GSM, PHS, two-way paging and the forthcoming GPRS. With open OS and wireless communications, the Company's PDA products offer a perfect mobile platform for vertical applications and enterprise solutions.
Samson Wai-ho TAM, CEO
Mr. Tam graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1986 with a Bachelor's degree in Science. He established Group Sense group in 1988 and launched the world's first English-Chinese Electronic Dictionary, "Instant-Dict", in 1989. The group was listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1993. Mr. Tam was awarded the "Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong" and "Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award" in 1992 and 1997 respectively. In 1999, he was elected as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association.
