Monterey Design Systems Inc. was founded in 1996 by Douglas Boyle, Ph.D., and James Koford, Ph.D. and currently employs about 70 people in Sunnyvale, California. The Company has raised approximately $31 millions to date. Led by venture firm Sevin Rosen Funds, the Intel IA-64 fund, Rho Management, Star Ventures, Foundation Capital, as well as industrial investments by Infineon of Germany, United Microelectronics Corp. of Taiwan and Sumitomo Corp. of Japan.
Monterey Design Systems' Dolphin is a breakthrough physical design system that dramatically shortens time-to-silicon by delivering high quality physical designs faster, more reliably, and in a more predictable time schedule than ever before. Unlike existing tools, Dolphin offers Built-In Design Convergence that solves the complex interdependencies among SoC design factors by simultaneously exploring all aspects of physical design space.
Dr. Jacques Benkoski, CEO
Dr. Benkoski joined Monterey in 1998 and was most recently executive vice president of sales and marketing. Previously he was vice president of European operations and strategic development advisor for EPIC Design Technology, which was acquired by Synopsys. Previously, he held various research and management positions at STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM -news), IMEC, and IBM (NYSE:IBM - news). He received his B.Sc. from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical andcomputer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
