Challenge:
Ibaraki Hitachi Information Services, Ltd. sought to model the complex behaviors of thin-metal casting processes in its ADSTEFAN* software. The enlarged data set needed to accomplish this task exceeded what was available under 32-bit computing platforms.
Solution:
The company worked with a pre-production Intel® Itanium® processor-based server from Hitachi, Ltd. to port its analysis software to the Intel Itanium platform. The program has been a strong success.
Business value
Porting to the 64-bit Intel Itanium architecture has enabled Ibaraki Hitachi Information Services to fully model complex thin-metal casting processes. The company is also seeing significant performance gains over 32-bit architectures.
