Intel Technology (China) LTD. employs nearly 800 employees. The plant is primarily engaged in the assembly and testing of Flash Memory, one of the most advanced and widely-used memory chips. Besides the rapid read and write speed (compared to traditional memory) Flash Memory is also able to retain contents even when the power is turned off. Intel's objective is to meet the rapidly increasing demand for Flash memory and other integrated circuit products in the world and build our China site into a world-class, high tech production base.
As a result of a successful localization plan, local staff has already taken responsibility for managing daily operations. Intel Technology (China) LTD. is Intel's third factory in Asia and the fourth assembly and testing plant worldwide.
The total land space is about 150,000 square meters (sqm), and first phase construction covers 12,000 sqm. Since going into production, the manufacturing volume has been ramping up rapidly due to the joint effort of both local and oversea employees. The plant has become a major Flash Memory manufacturing base for Intel, and also shows excellent performance in many areas including cost, delivery and yield. In Sept. 1999, just half year after run production, the plant acquired ISO9002 certification and because of its excellent performance in exports, Intel Technology (China) LTD. was ranked as the Number 1 exporter in the Pudong New Area.
