
Intel Austin has approximately 550 employees.
The Texas Development center operates under Intel�s Microprocessor Products Group; the Austin Design Center and DSP (digital signal processor) Design Center under the Wireless Communication Computing Group (WCCG) and the Platform Networking Group (PNGA) under the Network Communications Group.
Intel is currently leasing a facility (AN1) in Austin on the southeast corner of MOPAC Expressway (also known as Loop or Route 1) and Barton Skyway. In addition, Intel has space at 505 E. Huntland Dr. (ANL1) and 3307 Northland Dr. (Dialogic). There are about a dozen Intel employees on assignment at Sematech, also located in Austin at 2706 Montopolis.
Construction of Intel's downtown office building in Austin was put on hold in early 2001 due to economic conditions. Intel is currently evaluating all options concerning the building, and a decision will be made by the end of the year on the building's status.
Intel announced that Fab 16, planned for Fort Worth, Texas, was put on an indefinite hold in January of 2000. The 500 plus acres in north Fort Worth at the Perot Alliance Business Park is currently in a "stand down" mode with minimum maintenance and security presence. Site contact:
