Intel Corporation - Environmental, Health and Safety Report 2001

Intel has been driven by three long-range strategic goals for environmental, health and safety (EHS) performance:

	Be an environmental, health and safety leader in our communities and our industry.
	Prevent all injuries in the workplace.
	Reduce the environmental footprint of our products, processes and operations.

We also develop short-term goals for EHS improvement against which we measure our performance. As shown
in this section's Performance table, in 2001 our employees continued to demonstrate their commitment to
improving Intel's EHS performance around the world.

New and Ongoing Targets for 2002 and Beyond

	Continue to lead the world in employee health and safety performance.
	Recycle 45% of the chemical waste generated from our worldwide facilities.
	Recycle 60% of the solid waste generated from our worldwide facilities.
	Reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions per unit of production for the sixth consecutive year.
	Offset at least 25% of our total incoming fresh water supply needs with reclaimed water and more efficient systems.
	Incorporate energy-efficiency design requirements into our design and procurement processes.
	Register all of our semiconductor facilities worldwide to ISO 14001.
	Continue the development of lead-free product technologies.
	Purchase 30% recycled content paper for all U.S. copiers and printers.

Goal	Status
Lead the world in employee health and safety performance.	Further reduced our world-class injury/illness rate by 33% to 0.19 recordables.
Recycle 45% of the hazardous waste generated by U.S. facilities and 15% of the regulated waste from non-U.S. facilities.	Recycled 58% of the U.S. hazardous waste and 35% of the non-U.S. regulated waste.
Recycle 65% of the solid waste generated by U.S. facilities and 35% of the solid waste from non-U.S. facilities.	Recycled 71% of the solid waste from U.S. facilities and 42% of the solid waste from non-U.S. facilities.
Reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions per unit of production for the fifth consecutive year.	Global VOC emissions were reduced 10% per unit of production from last year.
Continue to establish strategies for the reduction of environmentally sensitive materials (including lead and halogenated flame retardants) in our products.	Introduced three lead-free product technologies in 2001.
Implement a worldwide effort to reduce energy consumption.	Energy Management Team formed to lead energy supply and demand management worldwide. Corporate funding established for energy conservation projects.
