The Workplace, Intel Values
Our values are at the heart of everything we do.

At Intel, we believe in doing a great job for our customers, employees and stockholders by being the preeminent building-block supplier to the worldwide Internet economy. Our values are put into practice each day by our employees, and govern how we deal with our communities and each of our customers. Discover how our values are at the heart of everything we do.

Customer Orientation

 We strive to:

  • Listen and respond to our customers, suppliers and stakeholders
  • Clearly communicate mutual intentions and expectations
  • Deliver innovative and competitive products and services
  • Make it easy to work with us
  • Be vendor of choice
At Intel, customer orientation applies to all of our customers, a large part of which includes our vendors and suppliers. An Intel Achievement Award-winning team put this value to use when developing a supply model with Motorola for flash technology. In an industry where market instability makes it difficult for companies to make future capital investments, the Intel team applied Intel Values to create a better opportunity for everyone. Intel and Motorola worked together to develop Intel's first long-term agreement with Motorola, which would enable a more predictable pricing model, and help other companies make more confident investments.

Discipline

 We strive to:

  • Conduct business with uncompromising integrity and professionalism
  • Ensure a safe, clean and injury-free workplace
  • Make and meet commitments
  • Properly plan, fund and staff projects
  • Pay attention to detail
Applying our value of discipline entails ensuring that our workplace is safe, clean and injury-free. Intel was the first major corporation to have a successful Project XL environment program, and is now the first to renew its original five-year program agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Through Project XL (eXcellence and Leadership), the EPA encourages corporations to explore innovative ways to achieve higher standards of environmental performance and community involvement in a cost-effective manner.

Quality

 We strive to:

  • Achieve the highest standards of excellence
  • Do the right things right
  • Continuously learn, develop and improve
  • Take pride in our work
From software to hardware, the name Intel is synonymous with quality. And the high caliber of our employees is no exception. A group from the Network Processor Division is the first at Intel to receive engineering software certification from the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University the pre-eminent engineering software certification body in the world. The software engineering model that the group has been certified to use &ndash called the Capability Maturity Model has already achieved dramatic business results for the group and is expected to achieve more. The model focuses intensively on improving the management systems for engineering projects.

Risk Taking

 We strive to:

  • Foster innovation and creative thinking
  • Embrace change and challenge the status quo
  • Listen to all ideas and viewpoints
  • Learn from our successes and mistakes
  • Encourage and reward informed risk taking
An Intel group, alongside the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, used the value of risk taking to develop an advanced compiler framework that both hope will form the basis for a development tool that will improve general-purpose performance and efficiency of future generations of the Intel Itanium processor family. The recently released compiler framework uses robust, modular compiler components that permit experimentation, enabling researchers to find and predict new techniques and technology for improving the family of processors. The framework also includes all-new additions to the infrastructure.

Great Place to Work

 We strive to:

  • Be open and direct
  • Promote a challenging work environment that develops our diverse workforce
  • Work as a team with respect and trust for each other
  • Win and have fun
  • Recognize and reward accomplishments
  • Manage performance fairly and firmly
  • Be an asset to our communities worldwide
Each and every employee at Intel is an important asset. Collectively, it is the personalities, hard work and strength of our employees that make Intel a great place to work. In one example, we can see just what a force for good - on a global scale - our employees can be. Raging wildfires in Australia called for more than 17,000 volunteers to lend a hand. Intel employees were an instrumental part of the volunteer force, providing sophisticated mapping software to help fight the fires. An Intel field application engineer spent New Year's Day building Intel Xeon processor workstations. Dell and Australian OEM Optima provided desktops with high-performance Intel Pentium 4 processors. Within just 48 hours, the fire mapping center was up and running. The Emergency Mapping Center became the central point of communication for the entire firefighting effort.

 We strive to:

  • Set challenging and competitive goals
  • Focus on output
  • Assume responsibility
  • Constructively confront and solve problems
  • Execute flawlessly
At Intel, the high-performance products and world-class services we offer are the result of hard work, years of unsurpassed innovation and a constant effort to apply each Intel Value in everything we do. With an orientation to achieve such high results, it's no surprise that the editors of Fortune magazine have ranked Intel among the top ten of America's most admired companies for the eighth consecutive year. Among semiconductor companies, Intel was ranked number one.
