Vice President, Technology and Manufacturing Group
Director, Corporate Services

INTEL CORPORATION

John McGowan is Vice President, Technology & Manufacturing Group, and Director, Corporate Services. McGowan is jointly responsible for facilities management, utility and manufacturing support, safety, security, and real estate and construction service for all Intel operations, concentrating on the latter.

McGowan was previously responsible for managing Intel's manufacturing and business operations in Ireland. He was also responsible for developing Intel's community and government relations programs in Ireland. Intel has a major wafer fabrication facility in Leixlip, designated Ireland Fab Operations (IFO). A second 300-mm wafer fab, Fab 24, is under construction.

McGowan joined Intel in 1993 as projects group manager responsible for the installation and qualification of equipment for the first of the two wafer fabs that now constitute IFO, namely Fab 10. He has held various management positions at Intel Ireland from 1995 to 1998 before spending time in the United States gaining in-depth understanding of Intel's integrated circuit manufacturing, lithography processes, and yield management systems.

Prior to Intel, McGowan was a director of the engineering consulting firm, Jacobs International. His final project for this firm was the design and construction of Fab 10.

McGowan received his bachelor's degree in engineering from the University College Galway in 1970. He received his master's degree in structural dynamics from Trinity College, Dublin, in 1974.

McGowan is a fellow of the Institute of Engineers of Ireland, and a member of the Institute of Directors. The Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland honored him with the Engineer of the Year Award in 2000.
